ISSB Test Pattern And 5 Day Schedule

ISSB-Inter Service Selection Board Selection and Guidelines ISSB test method is a 5 day program for the enlistment of Commissioned Officers for the Army, Navy and Air Forces. Subsequent to clearing the ISSB initial test, interview and medical test the competitors are then required asked for the test through “call letters” to show up in the test. ISSB test details about the ISSB test pattern and format. At ISSB, the applicants experience essentially 4 Categories of Tests Which includes

  • Screening Test
  • Psychological Test
  • Group Testing Officers (GTO) Test
  • Interview

ISSB 5 Days Schedule

The schedule of the ISSB is as follows:

Arrival Day

  • Reception
  • Documents Checking
  • Allotment of ID/ Chest numbers
  • Photographs
  • Administration Staff’s address
  • Completion of Board Questionnaires

1st Day ISSB Test Procedure

  • Opening Address by a Deputy President
  • Intelligence Tests
  • Declaration of screening out result
  • Remaining Psychological Tests
  • (Screened out Candidates will not attend the subsequent tests

2nd Day ISSB Test Pattern:

  • Briefing
  • Indoor Tasks
  • Group Discussion
  • Group Planning
  • Outdoor Tasks
  • Progressive Group Task (PGT)
  • Half Group Task (HGT)
  • Interviews:

ISSB 3rd Day Schedule:

  • Individual Obstacles
  • Command Task
  • Final Group Task (FGT)
  • Interviews (leftovers)

4th Day Schedule At ISSB

  • Conferences
  • Preparation of all the results
  • Dispersal of candidates

ISSB Screening Test (Day 1)

Soon after the arrival candidates will fill in certain Forms including the Personal Information Questionnaire (PIQ), the candidates of ISSB test are given two types of INTELLIGENCE Tests which are both ISSB Verbal Intelligence Test and non-verbal ISSB Intelligence Test just like the ISSB initial tests. These tests are called Screening Tests. The result of screening test is declared within 15 – 30 minutes of the completion of the test. The candidates which qualify will remain at ISSB test centers for the next 4 days to undergo the remaining tests, the rest are asked to return home.

ISSB Psychological Tests (Day 2)

The second day is for the Psychological Test in ISSB. In Psychological test one must write neatly and legibly as your Handwriting is the mirror to judge your quality and qualification at ISSB.

Remember, Psychological test are meant to calculate your IQ, ISSB test candidates must try to complete maximum number of questions. Be careful of the facts that your answer should follow your thinking process. As every ISSB test is co-related with each other , so be positive in what you are writing in the test. And don’t forget that you have to do better than others to get selected . In Psychological tests of ISSB there are four categories that include:-

1. Picture Story Writing Test.

2. Word Association Test.

3. Situation Reaction Test.

4. Self-Description Test.

Story Writing:

The applicants are required to work 12 stories altogether out of which 11 are having some image and one is without picture. You will get around 3 minutes for every story. Try not to compose same stories at each time. Attempt diverse subject for various stories. Remember you are the Hero; your objective ought to be to bring out administration characteristics of the leader through these accounts. Just during the observation test you are to give age, sex, temperament and number of people you find in the image. Your story must suit the image yet enlightens something regarding the previous episode which would have lead to this circumstance that is occurring in the image. You should likewise feature that what is probably going to occur later on.

Word Association Test:

Situation Reaction Test:

Self-Description Test: 

In the last part of the psychological test every candidate is supposed to write a self-appraisal with aim of knowing from you that how much you know about yourself. Usually the candidates are asked to give self-appraisal under following heading:

  • What is your personal opinion about yourself?
  • What does your parent think of you?
  • What does your worst enemy think of you?
  • What does your best friend think of you?
  • What does your teacher think of you?
  • What are your weak points?
  • What are your strong points?
  • What are the qualities you would like to develop?

 Suggested heading are:

  • Religion.
  • Education.
  • About your parents and place of birth and family background.
  • Physical Attributes
  • Social Contacts.
  • Your aims and goals. Both short and long term.
  • Extra-curricular activities, achievements.

Grouping Testing Officers GTO (Day 3 & 4)

The 3rd and 4th Days are kept for GTO Tests which include:

  • Group Planning Exercise
  • Progressive Group Tasks
  • Half Group Tasks
  • Individual Obstacles
  • Command Tasks
  • Final Group Tasks

INTERVIEW

Interviews are held during afternoon/evening hours on 2nd, 3rd or on the 4th day.

RECOMMENDED & NOT RECOMMENDED CANDIDATES ARE NOT PROVIDED THEIR LETTERS AT THE ISSB BUT ARE SENT TO THE CANDIDATES RESPECTIVE RESIDENTIAL ADDRESSES.
